Android Central Question
for a couple of weeks now, my phone (S6 edge, not rooted) randomly opens some spam websites on Samsung browser (which is not my default browser). these websites don't seem harmful, they are mostly about travel, tech, food etc. but their layouts are similar. they might open up when the phone is locked or when another app is open and it happens around 5-10 times a day.
I tried:
-installing and running antivirus and nothing came up
-checking some unwanted apps from settings. I found nothing suspicious.
-Clearing cache of Samsung internet app.
-hard resetting and wiping all data from the phone several times. first I used the cloud to reinstall apps but I figured those harmful apps might reinstall too if there are any, so I wiped it all again and manually installed my most used apps, all from google play. didn't log in to my Samsung account but I did log in to my google account.
-checking my google account permissions for any suspicious apps.
now I am out of ideas. this is driving me crazy and I am afraid even if I buy a new phone, that malware might carry on with my accounts. what should I try next?
