Just thought to share my views of the Alcantara and 2 piece cover for the S8+.
Alcantara (mint) - fits around the sides and back of the phone. The USP of this case is that it's (faux) suede; I have to admit it is the nicest feeling case I have used for a phone.... This is coming from someone who generally goes for the grained leather style back covers, for the premium feel.
I consider this perfect for out and about and should protect against normal day-to-day drops.
2 Piece Cover - now this case is really unique, it covers the top and bottom of the phone and loops over the top edges slightly - so the case stops the phone from touching a surface when laid down on its front or back. When holding it day to day you get to feel the beautiful body of the phone.
This case is designed for people who want MINIMAL protection and for people who want to feel the phone's body. I guess it primarily only protects day to day placing on the table .... I can't imagine you'd get much protection from a drop but these phones are covered in Gorilla Glass 5 - which is latest and greatest right?!?!?
In the short term I can see myself using the Alcantara but in the medium term, once I'm more comfortable with the phone, I can definitely see myself transitioning to the 2 piece cover.
