Samsung S8+: opening app from lock screen notification icon

why do i have to double tap then swipe up to open an app from the lock screen notification? For instance, i receive a snapchat notification. On the always on screen, i can see the notification icon. i have to double tap it, then swipe up, in order to open the phone directly to the app. It takes two hands a bit of coordination for me. Is there a simpler way that I can change to in my settings? like a long-hold or something?
