Samsung S8 v A70

I have been an S8 user for almost 3 years and now am looking to upgrade to a new phone. The flagship models are out of my current price range and the A70 has been offered several times at an affordable monthly price. Having read several reviews and comments about the phone it does seem like a decent mid-range phone which offers some improvement over my S8 so I am thinking of taking the plunge with it.

My main concern is whether it is enough of an upgrade to warrant the extra £8-£10 a month.

I use my phone mainly for internet usage, WhatsApp, and watching streamed content so the bigger screen would be a bonus although I am aware it's resolution is slightly inferior to the S8. I do use the camera a lot for snaps at family events, etc. do the not great reviews on its camera are a little off-putting.

Can anyone give me some advice on whether this phone would be a good move or not.

I have an S10 and S8. The S8 is still a powerful device and looks way better than the S10. Given your usage, I'm not sure you would benefit overall.

I think they are comparing to an A70, which to me isn't a good device to switch to.

I don't know the A70 looks to be a very solid phone , 4500mah battery double the ram then the s8 , faster charging , and will be supported longer then s8 and more camera options .

How much are you currently paying for your S8 per month and what does that get you?

The A70 is a great phone, one of Samsung's best selling last year. The screen while not as sharp as the S8 is still very good and you won't have any issues with it. For movie streaming this phone is perfect, a large flat screen is just what you need.

The camera is more than good enough for social events etc, I doubt you'd notice any difference. Don't listen to all these so called experts online, most cameras on phones these days do a decent job of producing an acceptable photo.

It's all down to cost.

By the way, the battery life of the A70 is excellent, you should expect at least twice, if not 3 times as much screen on time over the S8.
