Samsung Secure Wi-Fi - Is it worth it?

Is this thing worth it? (Powered by McAfee) Taking into consideration the integration with the Samsung Ecosystem.

Or do you stick to already known providers like NordVPN?

Depends on what you're gonna use it for. If the allotted free 250MB is enough for you and all you care about is the privacy protection and not geo-restriction bypassing, then yeah, it's a good option. If you want more data and care about changing countries on top of the security, then go elsewhere for your VPN needs.

I see. Thanks for the fast answer! What about AV systems? I don't think they're necessary, but just asking.

As long as you keep to the usual, reputable sources of apps (Play Store, Galaxy Apps, Amazon...), then you should be OK and no AV should be needed (Play Protect should be plenty enough). BUT if you're in the habit of visiting shady sites and side-loading a bunch of apps, then yeah, maybe using an AV might help a bit.

What you could, unfortunately, still find even in the Play Store, are apps that might push annoying ads to your lockscreen or notification bar. No AV would have stopped them, but at least an Ad-Network detector might be able to, well, detect them so you know which one to uninstall.

Some say its brilliant but I don't (personally) rate McAfee or any of its products. But like I say that's just my perception and personal view. On the other hand if you don't have another VPN service already installed and 250mb is enough for your needs then what the heck I'd run with it. However my predicament was that I already had a VPN that I was paying for and this was conflicting with my existing VPN software. Also 250mb isn't a fantastic amount when you start getting into downloading and streaming.
I would have kept it maybe and tried it for a bit if it wasn't for my above situation so give it a go and see how you get on.
I would however look around and do some research on independent VPN providers. I have a complete package with Avast for not much a year that covers all aspects of my phone security. I would warn you that some say Avast VPN is not the most advanced regarding features etc, I totally agree.....but its 100% reliable, simple to use and good value....it does what its supposed to do and does it well. But like all things in life personal preferences go a long way so find something you like and are comfortable with.

I was looking into using it and took the time to read the TOS first. Samsung points out the following...

"The Service may not be available for certain sites and content, depending upon your country, the applications you are using and your content provider’s policies. In such cases, your data may be transmitted through an unsecured public network. The Service may not provide encryption for data using SSL/TLS encryption, as determined by destination port."

So firstly, as others have said, 250mb is not a lot especially if there is any streaming involved. Even if you are just surfing the web, how many days in a month or even hours in a day could you use it before it maxes out and turns off.

Secondly, if you're accessing or sharing files and information that's so sensitive that you require such a service than maybe connecting to a open public server isn't the best idea to begin with.

Most plans have very large data plans (most are unlimited these days and your speed just slows down if you go over your limit). I would rather use my data plan in public settings before connecting to any unsecured networks. To each there own, and if Samsungs TOS work for you, than give it a go!
