Samsung tab 3 battery is dead

So I have this Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 that I haven't used for around a year. I found it today and realized it hasn't been plugged in. I held the power button and it didn't display the screen that tells you to charge it. Also, it won't turn on at all. I tried numerous things and I think I might have to wedge open the borders around the screen to fix the battery. P.S. it's been plugged in for around 20 hours now and hasn't charged.
