Question Samsung Tablet Suddenly Invaded by Adverts

Hi Experts
I am an 80 year old so not very expert. I have used a Samsung Tablet for about 10 years and have never been besieged by as many adverts as I am getting now.. I expect adverts in free games but am now getting them at all other times including in the middle of podcasts. I can only presume that some setting I had has been disrupted. I did try accessing the free Ad Block but nothing has changed. Can anyone help, please?

Depends on when/where you're seeing these ads (i.e. in a browser, random pop ups on any app, etc.). If you are using free services like YouTube and such, they HAVE increased ad placement to boost revenue if you're not on a paid premium plan. AdBlockers usually work on webpage ads only. If you are seeing ad pop ups while using a browser, check your network settings (DNS or proxy) as they may have been changed by a malicious app to route traffic and inject ads on it (ad blockers typically can't stop these).

Thank you for reply SpooksDroid. I only use Chrome Google but I can't find much in Google settings about pop ups as there is on my desk top computer. Do you know which settings should be checked for ads and pop ups on Galaxy S2 tablet. Perhaps its getting too old ??

Chrome on Android doesn't have as many options as the desktop counterpart does (especially lacking plug-in support, like AdBlock, etc.). You can check the limited options by tapping the menu button (three dots on the top, right corner), Settings/Site settings. There you can find options for 'Pop-ups and redirects' and 'Intrusive ads'.

Welcome to Android Central! Can you confirm -- are you only seeing these popup ads while browsing the web using Chrome? Or do they also appear when you're doing other things on your tablet, like using one of the other apps?

What podcast app are you using? Is it a paid or free podcast app? Does the podcast require a paid subscription to avoid ads?
