I finally received it. I was starting to think the thing was a myth.

Yeah it is quite large. I actually thought it was another box containing the Sanitizer when i opened the package.

For me the size is fine. I got it to be able to sanitize my devices when coming home from the covid world. So its perfect to set up on the same little table i have in my entry way with my keys and stuff. Being in NYC during this pandemic, it has made me extremely OCD about touching my phone after leaving my house. I try to limit how much I touch it until I can fully wash my hands after my commute.

Yeah, I could definitely understand wanting it for work in that setting. I could probably use it in my work setting as I deal with the public, so that's not a bad idea. I just try to avoid putting my phone near my face during work or touching it before I wash my hands for now. That's why I'm a bit annoyed at my 45MM Watch 3 being backordered so long. That would eliminate the need to touch the phone for calls during work.

I just curious about this gimmick, the touch screen has been around since Apple iPhone. Did somebody die from their own germs? We need germ.... LOL

Oh No doubt, mine is on the way as well. Didn't know what to spend with my 150 from Samsung and this seemed like a worthy item. Just wanted to clarify that it likely has no impact on coronovirus that's all, but that's not the only nasty thing out there. I work in a hospital and am always worried about what I may be bringing home. The fact that it will sanitize other items is a huge plus!

Ummm, as far as I know, no UVC device can claim that it can kill the coronavirus since there has not been any actual studies - but the theory is that UVC can modify the genes of viruses that would effectively stop their reproduction. There has been studies on SARS and MERS (which the coronavirus is a relative of) that show that UVC can inactivate SARS and MERS viruses, so the theory is that it would do the same for the coronavirus. It's always been a theory for all UVC and the coronavirus - but the reason why Samsung doesn't say it kills the coronavirus is because there are none or not enough studies done as it's still too new.

Those studies were done in labs with highly concentrated UV light (UVC-254) and exposed those viruses for extended periods of time, something a device like this is incapable of. I'm sure there won't be studies because the type of UV light needed would be dangerous for the general public, and just not feasible. That said, there are plenty of things this thing will be useful for and am happy that Samsung teamed up with this company to deliver it.

The UV light would likely assist with killing a virus or bacteria. Again there are no gold standard studies, but if you wait for those it'll be too late anyway. Use common sense. I don't see myself using this thing so I ebayed it and got $40 plus shipping.. reducing the cost of my Note 20 ultra below $500. So it is good for something.

My wife works in a hospital too. She wraps her air pods and her iPhone in a snack ziplock bag when she leaves the house and doesn't take it out until she gets in the car. Even then, Once she takes them out of the bags, she wipes them down with lysol wipes. She is still able to use her phone while it's in the bag, because of the FaceID, but she still limits the use of it while at work.

The CDC says touching objects is not the main method of transmission, although may be possible. There have been many reports discussing airborne droplets being the primary method of spread, and surface spread being much less likely. Your personal phone is even less likely. Just don't borrow one form someone else.

There's a large difference--orders of magnitude--between "less likely than airborne transmission" and "less likely than being struck by lightning". And if surface transmission does occur, a surface that comes in contact with your face is of particular concern.

Still, it's hard to quantify the risks enough to know what disinfection methods are worth it. To some extent, we're still just guessing. I myself would use a UV sanitizer if it were free, but I wouldn't bother to purchase one.

Really don't see a need for a phone sanitizer looks like a gimmick to make money to me. Personally this covid-19 is somewhat of a money making scam.

I can't address what it is to you personally, but factually it's more than ten times deadlier than the flu.

That's not true they are not using the underlying deadly conditions as the cause of death. It's the covid that pushes the death. It's up to the doctor and hospital to declare the cause of death so the numbers are not all correct. Not saying it's all BS but the majority is.
