So I can confirm that 2.2 Roms will auto-detect the car dock and put the phone into Car Mode (confirmed auto-launch of Custom Car Home).

However I'm still not able to get the audio-out jack on the car dock to work, audio still outputs from the phone only.

I agree - the 2.2 Android seems to be better about recognizing the dock, and starting up Car Dock. Even pops up a little steering wheel at the top of the screen. (Running Froyo with Quantum 2.5 ROM)

I kind of wonder if Samsung jumped the gun about 2.2 throughput to the audio jack. Seems they would have had something to base it on, though. For car docks, wish they could out put to the USB, as Ford/MS Sync could use that like an MP3 player or USB thumb drive, and play based on voice commands. Can't have everything, I guess!

So I have the dock and just made a 1400 mile trip with it and 2.2 installed.
No issues with the dock at all, held firm to my windshield and really has a good grip on the phone. With 2.2 installed phone launched whatever program I had loaded as a car dock program, everything worked as advertised. I can't find the Samsung car app though (I'd like to try it because I think the other car dock apps in the market are generally not very good). Anyone know where it is?

The samsung car app is called 'carhome (beta)'. search for car home. I have been using it and just did a 1000 mile trip with it. Worked well with version 1.6. However, they just upgraded it to a new version (1.7) and if you go into the settings and activate the auto bluetooth and/or the auto wifi options, the program force closes with TER 1.2 froyo 2.2 (not sure about 2.1 or other roms). I use tasker to activate the auto bluetooth/wifi and forego the options in the carhome program to get around this issue in v1.7. Running Truely Epic rebirth 1.2

Agreed on the mount. Was awesome for the car. I do wish the arm was a tad longer as it limited the places I could attached to a 2004 Chevy Tahoe windshield. I may just go with the base on the dash instead but that forces me into just 1 position.
