Hey i was just going to get the vibrant today, when i see multiple reports all over saying the SAMSUNG VIBRANT is getting the same signal problem as the Iphone 4 has been getting, there is also a video on youtube with the problem??? is this true or whats going on?

it's not true. It's exactly what the press conference yesterday was supposed to make happen.

ALL phones can lose signal when you cover the antenna area and squeeze. The iPhone 4 loses signal when your skin makes contact (as in not the death grip, but just a touch) where the two antennas meet, and that spot just so happens to be where most people touch the phone when holding it. It's poor design, which is why a free case was offered as a bandaid.

Ignore the idjits on youtube. Ignore sensationalist bloggers who only want hits. If you're tech savvy, listen to Ars Technica. If you're not, listen to Consumer Reports. Both have said that they absolutely love the new iPhone, but it certainly does have a bigger issue with signal drop than most other new smartphones.

The problem is the phone does seem to have a bar issue. I can make calls with no bars. obviously the bars are meaning less. Its just a confidence problem.

Same thing here, I get 0 bars most of the time. Yet I have NO problems making calls, and my downloads and internets are FAST. I think the indicator bars are just inaccurate.

I have had my Vibrant for 2-days and have noticed the same thing. The only concern I have is that checking the phone status, does show the signal levels being alot lower than I would expect for an area that's supposedly fully covered according to the t-mo coverage maps.

I've also seen these numbers greatly fluctuate standing the in the same spot, I've seen it go from 1 to 4 bars (corresponding signal numbers -110 and -81).

I'm a new t-mo customer so I'm not sure if this is an issue with the network or the phone.

I'd watch the 3g indicator. As long as you are always 3g you should be fine. If up truly have no signal is a circle with a line through it. I get that in my office on occasion.

IVe definately seen the issue with the bars but still being able to make calls and text. BUT!!! when the bars are gone and im able to do that, my internet and feeds do NOT work. I used to get signal anywhere in the basement with my trusty G1 but the Vibrant it seems like i have to be next to the window with one leg behind my head, one eye closed doin some kinda "gimme reception" voodoo dance. If i go outside i have full bars and 3g but F goin outside everytime i wanna use the damn thing
