Samsung you're in serious trouble if you think people will pay $1000 for a phone

Re: Anyone skipping due to price?

Almost free when you sell the additional one and the additional free items using TMobile's buy one get one free.

Re: Anyone skipping due to price?

Nope. My preorder will be here tomorrow! There is no other phone that is similar or can compare. The people with their S8+ who are saying it's minor tweaks have never used a note device. I use the Spen quite often and that alone for me justifies it. It's a completely different user experience. I'll never go back to a boring old regular smartphone again.

Re: Anyone skipping due to price?

I have owned most of the Note devices, but this time I am skipping due to price. $930 is just too much for a device when others at a much lower price range have similar specs and features.

Anyone else on this boat? If not, what justifies, for you, getting a $930 Note 8?

Is it me or do THAT many people drop the full price for a phone?? US carriers have upgrade programs in place (call it a lease) so you can upgrade almost every 12 months or so... why pay full price for something you're probably going to upgrade soon anyway?? $31/month with no money down, no interest (my deal) might not be the best but it absolutely works for me.

I haven't even begun to think what a Note 9 is going to look like but.. count me in as someone who will upgrade to it, when it's time.

Re: Anyone skipping due to price?

Jump on Demand is going to have a pretty hefty Down payment for this phone. Probably $250 Or so. The galaxy s8 plus had a $130 down payment and it was less than $800.

Nope - $31/month - just paid the sales tax ($65), nothing else down. I can upgrade again in just over a year.

Re: Anyone skipping due to price?

Some of it is due to price. Since I have the S8+ I just feel (for me) it isn't a huge upgrade and isn't worth the cash. Or well more like it feels like the same phone with a few minor tweaks .. too similar for me to pull the trigger.

That makes sense. For me it is a different situation, I'm switching to TMobile, so I can get the BOGO. Also, it feels like a big upgrade from my V20

Re: Anyone skipping due to price?

If you let price scare you away, then your never going to get another new flagship phone ever. I look forward to getting a new flagship phone every 2 years. It's a treat I allow myself.

Plus with my trading in my s6 edge+ I got 325 (Or something like that) off.

Re: Anyone skipping due to price?

If you bought the s8+ 4 months ago why would be upgrading anyway. You knew the note was coming in sept. I like the note 8 but i bought the s8 in may so im waiting for the note 9. I buy my phones full price or if there is a bestbuy verizon offer with $450 gift card i do that and cancel the next day, pay off the phone with verizon and keep the gift cards.

Re: Anyone skipping due to price?

983 Euro/1274 USD I had to pay to get an unlocked/sim free version, living in Ireland I still had to order from the UK.
NO.... I'm not happy to pay that....however.... I have my Note 4 for little over two years so haven't spent anything on new phones since then (and got that cheap enough) and doing it this way it will leave me in a much easier & cheaper position next year if I want a Note 9 as I can then upgrade through my mobile provider (carrier) and subsidize purchase with sale of Note 8 and have the 9 for just a few hundred when/if time comes.
I could wait two months and upgrade for between 4-600 depending on monthly plan if going in to a new 24 months contract but I prefer to take the hit now and have no contract and get a brand spanking new out of the box top end device this time.
If prices of hi-end devices the last couple of years are anything to go by the N9 next year is going to be as crazy expensive as the iPhone top model will be this year so planning for future saving this time

Re: Anyone skipping due to price?

This too could be my last flagship for a while... Well at least till next year... I should never had used the pen ever now it limits you to the note series only..

I don't need to justify anything really. I want it so I will get it. The iPhone's will cost more. The note 7 was 849. Same with the s8 plus. What's 100 more for added functionality.

Now I understand if people don't agree. That's fine. There are plenty of options for everyone. Don't like the price don't get it. Don't like the style or software, don't get it. Plenty of choices for everyone.

The price isn't relevant to me.

Not saying money isn't an issue. I bought a Black Note 8 at my Verizon store, and with a $240 discount, the cost is down to $720 or $30 a month.

I've owned every Note, and the technology has become so good, so useful, so productive, and so fun, the Note is an intricate part of my business and personal life every day.

I don't look at the Note 8 as a $1000.00 product but a dollar a day necessity.

Christmas in September - September 5th to be exact!!!!!

I'm voting for Note release days to become a national holiday for all nations. We must protect S Korea at all costs..

The Note brand has become alot like the Blackberry used to be in terms of devoted fans. And you just won't get it unless you own one.

For Note fans it's not just another smartphone. It's as much of an investment /necessity as buying a new CPU.

Of course you'll have your group who are interested just because it's the latest Samsung device. But if you're truly a fan, you'll find a way to justify the price.

Easy for me. I just sold my iPhone 7 plus on Swappa for $650. That is more than the $425 Samsung was giving me. So now Samsung will charge my CC as I won't send a phone in for $950 and I will use the $650 and add $300 to pay off the phone. :) Bargain deal!

I'll end up paying $930 by the end of my payments on T-Mobile, BUT I'm getting a Note 8 for myself AND one for my wife at $930 total, so for $465 apeice the price seems reasonable to me.

Bought a Black N8, Unlocked version from bestbuy. Id rather pay mine all upfront rather making payments making my bill higher. Spent $930, have no problem doing it again next year.

Great deal. You can't even get a Note FE (Note 7) for less than $800 currently.

I figured they would do BOGO after a few months after release like the S8/S8+ once they start with the discounts, but to offer before it's even officially out and all the other deals available...
