Boo Samsung. My phone was picked up today by FedEx but Samsung placed a hold delivery on it till the 26th. Why not the 25th I have no idea. Oh well.

Can someone please explain the difference, between buying Unlocked or Carrier unlocked from SAMSUNG? I am on Tmobile and I have heard that if you buy unlocked from Samsung and if you have a Tmobile sim card and if you are roaming on US Celluar the unlocked phones are not supported? Can you verify if this is true?

I always buy official unlocked model direct from Samsung and use it with T-Mobile, never had any issues with network. As far as the roaming thing, I don't know something which I never checked since I never had issues with network. For me I wouldn't buy the carrier model even if they pay me

IMO, you shouldn't see any difference in network since they all are same hardware and only difference being in some carrier customization (adding carrier bloat), but not at the network layer OS level IMO. If you aren't super confident always safe bet to get the carrier model, but it should work fine with official unlocked model as well without any problem.

I bought Note 20 Ultra Unlocked directly from Samsung and as of yet, there is no update for E-sim from Samsung but the Tmobile Note 20 Ultra has an update for E-sim. So this is the difference. This is just an example. I asked because there is a lot of discussion on Reddit about the unlocked phones not being supported with TMOBILE SIM and roaming on US cellular.

Yes, that's right and I mentioned that because I have Tmobile as my Network provider. The point is that TMobil updates the firmware with better support for their Network whereas Samsung doesn't.

I have TMobile also , there was usually no difference between the unlock Samsung version and TMobile firmware except this esim they introduce , finally in US .

And meanwhile, my 512 GB fold 3 from Sprint/T-Mobile that I purchased a week ago, is still pending and it still says delivery date between September 18 and October 9, how ridiculous is that (and yes, my card was charged in that day too)

Yep, I ordered it again but still no date on my order with Best Buy. Not sure why it looks like this now.

Do note that best buy is notorious for not having proper inventory numbers and delaying orders. Not saying will happen to your order but best buy historically is not the best place to pre order if you want the asap.

My 256 GB Z Fold 3 from Sprint/T-Mobile is also still pending but my delivery date is August 27-28. I ordered it on August 11.

This. Best buy usually has the best price on pre-order phones, but they are also known to be king in delays.
