Here is the email exchange between myself and Samsung...I have had Samsung phones in the past and they always seem to deflect any responsibility. And I have never known them to ever fix or update one of their phones, I would be highly surprised if we ever receive any kind of fixes, Froyo, etc. without relying on the XDA community...
---------my email to samsung----------
My family recently bought 3 AT&T Captivate Galaxy S phones...
We are having some problems with all 3 of them -
1) The GPS chips are not working correctly
2) The contact groups do not sync with the contact groups defined in Google contacts
3) The MMS functionality is not working on them
Its a great phone, but these 3 problems are really making us re-evaulate our decision while were within our 30 day return period.
Please advise.
---------------samsung's reply--------------

We will forward your report of this behavior along to the appropriate parties for additional review and consideration. Please bear in mind that network features, to include the GPS functionality, are best supported by your service provider. We recommend contacting an at&t Customer Service Representative to confirm that there are no service issues that may be affecting your handset.

Please contact your service provider's customer service department for additional information.
