Question Sandisk extreme SSD drive not showing up

I have a Sandisk Extreme portable drive, & I used to be able to back up files. Now the file manager doesn't pop up, & I can't see the drive using file managers I have. I've tried Total Commander & File Commander.

1. Check the connection: Try using a different USB cable, USB port, or device to ensure the drive is recognized.
2. Check the power: Check if the drive requires more power than others.
3. Check disk management: Open Disk Management on your PC and assign a proper drive letter.
4. Try Disk Utility on a Mac: Mount the drive manually or run First Aid to check for disk errors.
5. Check for drive errors: Right-click the drive in File Explorer and select "Properties."
6. Reinstall USB drivers: Restart your computer and reinstall them.
7. Check for updates or conflicts: Update your OS and file managers.

When you plug it into the phone, swipe down the notification panel -- do you see a USB notification? If so, tap that and make sure it's set for File Transfer rather than Charge Only.

The Sandisk drive, which I'm plugging into my phone, no longer shows up as a drive & the automatic file management app on the drive no longer starts when I plug it in.

That's what I'm asking what phone? Does it happen when plugged in to say a computer also?

I used a different cord & was able to use File Commander to transfer files. It still doesn't pop up automatically, but at least it works.

Maybe buy a new cord that uses USB c for file transfer not just charging just to rule it out but is it also formatted to exFAT? Otherwise try it on another device with cables you have to see if the same thing happens

Don't remember how it's formatted. It transferred internal files ok, but now won't transfer memory card files. "Folder not found". But at least main is backed up.
