Saving file to homescreen

Alright I give up....I have some PDF files I want to save to my home screen and I can't figure out how to do it anyone know how?

You can if you save it to Google drive.

To expand on that... Upload the PDF to Google drive, then you can then go back to your home screen and create a Google Drive shortcut widget pointing to the file.

I know how to do that, but unfortunately when I use the file the most is in a building with little to no reception

Try an app like Shortcut.

You can also try a file manager that lets you create a link/shortcut to homescreen "desktop" of whatever file you have saved on your phone. I personally use Total Commander. Find the file, long press it and select "send to desktop". Voila! You don't need any sort of data/reception signal for this

OK, I see I need even more help than that. I got Total Commander, but selecting the file and then "Create link on desktop" is creating a link to the entire folder, not the 1 file. What am I doing wrong? Thanks!

This is how I can do it:

1. Long-press an empty part of the homescreen, then select Add Widget.
2. Scroll to Total Commander, and drag and drop the Total Commander widget to the location on the homescreen you want the link.
3. When you release, it will ask you to choose a file or folder -- navigate to the folder with your file, then tap the file.
4. In the next window, tap the arrows to the right of the "Command" field, and choose the app to open that file when the widget is tapped.

Does that work?
