saving stuff to a micro SD card

I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 with very little storage, so I bought a 16 GB micro SD card. But it's pretty much useless because I can't figure out how to get my tablet to save anything there! There isn't even enough space left on the tablet for ONE SONG. It sucks! How do I get it to start saving stuff to the micro SD card instead of trying to save it to the device itself and just giving up when it doesn't work?

Welcome to Android Central! The ability to download files directly to the microSD card depends on the device. If your device doesn't give you that option, then you have to download the file to Internal Storage first, then move it to the microSD card using a file manager app like MyFiles or ES File Explorer.

It's probably easier to download music to your computer and transfer it directly from your computer's hard drive to the SD card. Unmount the card from the tablet (in Settings>Storage), then remove it and insert it into the computer's SD reader. Use Windows Explorer to copy the files from the hard drive to the SD card. Then reinsert the card back into the tablet, and those files should be viewable.

I can't install anything. There isn't enough space. *sigh* I guess I'll go delete apps I rarely use.

I have to delete an app every time I need to update apps on my SGT4 because of limited space. I am curious as to how you solved your space issues @melody5697?

OK, where??? I hate that I have this thing, but I was told to have it for work (rather than my MotoX 2nd gen...they won't write their PROPRIETARY app compatible with Lollipop!)
