Saw and Demoed a Captivate Tonight

Well I use a couple for my job. I'm using a 9700 & 9800(testing), i4, & Captivate. :)))

If I had to choose one for non work purposes it would either be the Captivate or the i4. I'm connected to a BES server so I must use a BlackBerry for work as well.

The reason I was asking was because I thought I saw you post a lot on crackberry. I am little reluctant to pull the trigger on the captivate though because each android I tried in the past has always had "something" missing from it. I just wonder if this one would be different..

I went to my local at&t store and was allowed to play with the device for awhile. I have an iPhone 4 currently so I am not sure if I am going to change or not but the screen is amazing. It's very close to the iPhone's screen. The phone is also very snappy and fast, things move along quite well. It's very thin too. So now I have a tough decision, do I tough it out with the iPhone 4 until the next software update or do I try the captivate? This is really the first true Android phone on AT&T that people can get excited about because it looks so nice. 3G is coming to my area in the next 2-3 months too so switching to Verizon wouldn't make much sense to me.

Well if you enjoy using defective devices then iphone4 all the way.

If you want an Android phone with features as you described as "very snappy and fast, things move along quite well. It's very thin too", then the Captivate is your choice.

In all honesty I think the Captivate is the superior device. Easily rootable and can function as a World phone.

this looks to be in the same league as the Incredible/Moto x (imo).

Personally I sold my Incredible and decided to pass on the Moto X.

I'm waiting for Verizon's version of this same phone(Captivate/Galaxy S) called the facinate.

I believe the graphics capabilities, processor, and screen technology make this a very unique device. Plus it should be easy root.

How does it compare to the HTC Aria? I played with the Aria yesterday and it ran so smooth and responsive. Such a shame it's not bigger. ;)

Not even close. Aria is minor league compared to this.

edit: it's high scholl compared to Captivate's pro status.

The iPhone 4 is a world phone too and I don't travel overseas so that's not an issue for me.

I picked one up this afternoon and it is great. I have this and iPhone and this is definitely a good Android phone. It's the perfect medium between the incredible and X or evo and it's in a sexy form. I had the X but it just wasn't sexy enough for me. Motorola just can't design a good looking phone with functionality. This one has the perfect screen size and I'm fine without Sense UI because I use launcher pro anyway. This is a very good device. I only wish it had a led flash for the camera. Not sure why that wasn't included but it's still good.

Are you going to get rid of the iPhone now?

well I'm pretty sure you know the answers you will get on an android central forum. We are most likely steer you in the Android direction.

What specific questions do you have and why are you thinking about making a switch?

The main question I had had to do with the music player. I like the iPod feature of the iPhone and use it almost daily. I also like the headphones that change the music track from the mic/remote and I don't see anything like that for use on this phone. I am also leery of some of the apps for the android as I've seen phones become very laggy when certain apps were installed. I still haven't picked one up yet because I am still doing some research and seeing what issues people are having on their device, however, I am pretty close to jumping in and seeing if I like it. If I don't, I could always re-sell it or take it back. I do not have any lines that are up for a contract so ill need to pay full price for it. (currently using iPhone 4 16GB)
