Scene - get rid of black background behind text

I looked, but could not find the option. Anyone know if there is an option to remove/change the black background behind the text under each icon on your scene? Right now it's white text against a black background. I'd like the background to go away, or possibly make it more transparent. Any settings to change it?

If i understand you correctly, I don't think theres an option to change it on the default messaging app but Handcent SMS allows you to change the background color to either black or white. Also you can change the color of the "bubbles" so i can make my bubble orange when i have typed something and incoming texts be in a blue bubble. Hope that helps.

No, I mean your home screen. The icon's that are on the screen have white text below that says what they are (eg. Mail, People, Messages, etc.), and a black background behind that text. I want to see about changing that text color and/or background color.

Mine are white on a transparent black. Never noticed it before reading this post. I'd like the option to change it too.
