screen blinking while playing videos

Hai all,it was all perfect for my galaxy S4 for a year.But the issue related on video as suddenly come up with blinking the screen during the play.Guys is there any solution or whether this is the good time for me to change the phone?

I have the same exact problem, my phone runs fine in every app and every program. But when I play any video on YouTube or Facebook the screen starts flickering and gets distorted. My phone is the s4 i9500. When I restart my phone it becomes ok. But I'm worried that it might become a permanent problem and restarting it might not help later on. Is there any solution for this problem? Is it a kit Kat 4.4.2 problem? Please help guys..

I had such an issue few days ago. Not only with videos even on browsing, Facebook, etc. It wasn't distortion of pictures just some kind of light blinking. But actually it disappeared next day. Hope was kit kat issue.

I think it is a kit Kat issue. Ever since I updated my phone it's been nothing but problems. My battery life is horrible now and the video play back issue keeps coming back. I hope that we'll get the 4.4.3 update. It came out on nexus devices and will come out for the other devices later on. I hope it's soon though.

Ofcourse its the problem of kitkat version.So when I contacted the Samsung support centre they told me to switch off and on, but the issue repeats.May be you have to take the phone to service centre or let us wait for the next update version.

Have you guys got any of the smart features (Smart stay, Smart pause) turned on? If so, try turning these settings off as bad lighting cause the screen to flicker when these settings are enabled.

No, everything is switched off, but the result is same

I just got a brand new s4 i9500. And when I play videos from YouTube, whatsapp through Samsung player or vlc etc my screen starts flickering like crazy and then blacks out.

To fix I went to developer settings and enabled a function called " Turn off hardware overlays"

This instantly solved the problem of the flashing screen upon video playing.
