Screen brightness outside

Does anybody else notice the screen brightness isn't all that when it's max and your trying to take a picture? I had to hover my hand at the top of my phone to see the image..

You need to set it to auto brightness. The extra brightness will not kick in when set to maximum brightness

Does auto brightness use more battery? So your saying when on auto brightness the screen will be more brighter to match the sunlight
