Screen brightness

So since I received my 2nd gen Moto X back in January I've kept by D default my screen brightness on minimal 0 to conserve battery power does this work for everyone else? Or do you keep your screen brightness on any other level and still save a ton of battery? I realized on my first moto x that if I kept it on automatic brightness setting is 30 percent of my battery was consumed by my screen and that's why I've been doing it this way I just want to know what everyone else that on their phones.
