I have a Thunderbolt but my Mom has the Fascinate so I don't know that much about it. She is experiencing screen burn in from the "battery fully charged" message that comes on fully bright in the middle of the night. Is there any way for her to have this message NOT come on so that the burn in doesn't continue?

Im not too familiar with what a screen burn is but if you are referring to the screen staying awake while charging you can turn it off by going under settings/applications/development and uncheck stay awake. As far as the battery fully charged message it wont go away unless her phone is rooted in which having a custom ROM programmed to not display it when its fully charged.

I assume this is happening due to being on an eclair build still. The screen is woke up by it being fully charged and it's remaining that way for hours on end. You can try the method vi3tboiii suggested, or update her phone to Froyo (just released on 4-21-11) which no longer has the 'stay awake' feature. In which case your mothers phone will go back to sleep after being woken by the fully charged prompt.

If you'd like to update her phone you can do so by going into settings> about phone> system update> check now. This should bring up a prompt to download and install the latest OTA released by verizon for the samsung fascinate (ED01 Android 2.2 Froyo)

I just upgraded her phone to Froyo yesterday. I will check to see if the problem has gone away.

So it doesn't need to be rooted, right? And there are no additional settings. Just the update to 2.2 should do the trick?

I know my Thunderbolt, which is 2.2, doesn't have a similar problem.

Thanks for the help!

Yeah, the update removed the feature that used to be located in the settings under applications > development labeled 'stay awake' which allowed the phone to stay awake whenever it was plugged in. A screen burn can easily happen when an image is being displayed for hours on end. And no, it doesn't need to be rooted whatsoever. Your mothers phone should be good to go. Although I would make sure in the display settings that it is set to automatically sleep after a set time. That could also be a factor. I personally have mine set to turn the screen off after sitting idle for 30 seconds. Other than that I'd just have her check the phone from time to time to see if for some reason it's not going to sleep or comes out of sleep without her action. If that happens you may want to contact verizon, it could be a malfunction, but that's only a worst case scenario. I think it should be perfectly good to go now! Enjoy and your welcome!

Search secret codes for fascinate on this forum there is some codes you punch in to disable that message... idk if thats what you wanted but its worth a try :)

After the Froyo update I don't think you can disable the message by that method anymore :-\

I just attempted to disable it and was unable. Anyone out there know if the codes changed or if there is any other options?

I can't remember for sure (maybe it was a bad dream) but I think it still vibrates when the battery is full. Not real helpful in getting a good nights rest.

Yeah it still vibrates when fully charged. As for the code, I am not sure whatsoever, but my guess is something has most likely changed as people are not succeeding in this method when they were pre-froyo. I wouldn't be suprised that with time something will come out that will allow for this to be possible again.

Here's an odd thing. My wife's SF and mine are both stock, both Froyo OTA. She gets the notification and I don't. The only difference I can think of is that she uses NoLED and I don't...

Weird. I'm Froyo Stock (ED01) and I get the battery full notification.

Hummm? Odd, yes. My Fascinate has never given me that screen at the end of the charge. I thought that 2.1 had a setting to disable that, but I'm not sure, and I am pretty sure that 2.2 does not have any such setting.
