Screen cast issue

Hi all,

I'm using a Nexus 7 Wifi on Android 5.01. Previously, when I casted my N7's screen and then turned off the screen, my television would be blank, just like my tablet. Now, when I turn off my tablet screen, my television displays the date and time. Not really a huge issue but, out of curiosity, does anyone know how to turn this feature off? Or whether it can be turned off at all?

Thanks all!

Via Chromecast. I suspect this is just an update that was slipped in with the latest Google play services or chromecast app update.

Probably. This only happens when you're choosing the Cast Screen option in the Quick Settings, and not casting some other app like YouTube, right?

That's correct. It's not really a big deal. I'm not really bothered by having something display on my television even when my tablet screen is off, but it would be nice to at least have the option to turn it off.

For what it's worth, I thought this could be related to the daydream function, but disabling that had no effect.

For me the chromecast always had a picture with the time and date and the name of the person who took the picture on the screen no matter whether the screen of the device is on or not. I think there is a setting for the TV display when idle. It is accessible in the Chromecast app in the play store. Or I my thinking of something else? I don't really use the cc that much. That's my sons job.
