So I let my Note 8 charge with a wall plug in charger at night while I sleep. Ever since the Oreo update, inadvertently all night, my screen keeps waking up, and that wakes my wife and I. Is there any kind of fix for this? It keeps giving me a weird error code of some sort but, I can't remember what it said or even remembered to screen shot it, since it's in the middle of the night and I'm trying to sleep. Help!

I have noticed that some aftermarket cables can do this. Are you using the OEM cable?

If you're using the OEM cable, when it happens tonight, wake up enough to take a screen shot. (And keep the phone face down at night - that may help.) Then post the screen shot here.

System UI has stopped

Open the developer options (must activate feature by tapping Build Number 7 times, located under about phone, software info tab) and turn off the "stay awake" toggle. For many this option is turned on which forces the screen to stay on once the battery reaches 100%. Turn this feature off and the screen will turn off after fully charging. At least this process worked for me and hopefully it does for you too.

I've always had that ^ developer option turned off - and after the Oreo update, would get the screen turning on when plugged into the stock Sammy charger. Also the screen would not time out even though it was set to one minute.

Turned out that it was an app called glimpse notifications that was buggering it up. They've released an update that seems to have fixed it.

mine started doing that after the oreo update, along with a few other issues.

i finally did a factory data reset (that i used to always do after a big update but decided i didn't need to) and it fixed all of my issues.

doing a FDR is a pain and shouldn't have to be done nowadays, but with oreo i needed to so it would fix the glitches.

if you are planning to keep the phone for any length of time it might be worth it for you to get it over with.

it fixed the following issues for me:

screen randomly coming on while charging (and i only use samsung cables and wireless chargers)
the phone going into a reboot loop if using restart to restart phone.

apps like radarscope and slotomainia randomly closing

it's up to you, but since i love the phone and plan on keeping it, it was worth to spend the few hours to get rid of the headaches

I ran into the same issue with my NOTE 8, then it went away. It happen when I got the NOTE 10 plus. All of this went away after I realized that by turning on NIGHT MODE will not blast you with a bright screen when unplugging or plugging in the phone.

I have mine scheduled from Sunset to Sunrise.

PROBLEM SOLVED!!
