Samsung galaxy Note 5

So I have recently noticed that while watching Netflix especially the screen will dim depending on the type of lighting I am in. Note that this is with the auto brightness turned off and the slider all the way up. Shows like X-files which are already shot with low lighting are almost impossible to watch. I find myself watching images of black outlines of people move around the screen instead of an actual show. Sometimes if there is a little beam of bright light sneaking in through a window or something and I put that right over the light sensor on the front of the phone the screen brightens up and looks great but out of the light it is useless again. This is driving me nuts all I want to do is turn this useless feature off but it seems that option has been taken away with the Note 5. Any ideas where this option might be or how I can disable it? I just want control over my f***ing phone!!!

Thanks!

That's a weird problem. Disabling auto brightness and turning it to max should do it. You sure that auto brightness is disabled? On some versions, you can make adjustments to auto brightness.

I've watched quite a few Google Play movies in various lighting conditions (light, dark, and in between), and so far not experienced that particular problem. I do have display set to Auto Brightness. Does the problem happen with movies besides those from Netflix?

My old note 5 used to do that. Screen brightness would dim during high processor times for about 10 seconds. It was very annoying. Make sure power saving is off, brightness auto is off, battery is more than 5% or whatever % in settings u have to dim the screen. If that doesnt stop it, backup phone and factory reset. Resets are annoying on some carriers because you have to call customer service to fix voicemail afterwards. I had that issue on the gs6edge+ too. My current note 5 doesnt have that problem. The only difference in apps is facebook messenger is disabled on my newer note 5.
