Screen edge blue tint problem

I guess I forgot to update this thread.

I exchanged the phone and I didn't have a problem with the replacement that I can see as far as the blue tint thing goes. It was one of those things that once I noticed it I couldn't not notice it in every day use and it was really annoying me so it was totally worth the hassle of doing an RMA.

The darker black marks are still there on a black screen but honestly to see them you have to be on an all black screen, in a dark room and let your eyes adjust a bit to see them. Not something you will see in daily use. Not going to let that bother me and I bet all the phones have that.

Samsung put a hold on my card for $350 and shipped out the phone second day air. They also gave me a prepaid shipping label for the replacement. They emailed when they got the box and a week later that the RMA was considered closed. The actual RMA process with Samsung was handled really well. The problem is that they say you only get an advanced RMA in the first 15 DAYS of having the phone. Really makes me wonder how they handle you six months down the road.

Overall I think the phone screen is still a bit disappointing. It is still pretty good but the poor white performance leads to a rather ho hum presentation. White needs to be white, not a very light shade of grey.

I agree with you on the white. Screen looks terrible showing whites. Blacks are amazing on AMOLED screens though.

I've seen this. I've been trying Plasma burn-in videos to try to normalise it but haven't seen a difference.

Will take it back to the shop as i've been at it all week with overnight & @work runs of the video on the screen and whilst i think it's improved it's not 100% gone away and.. well, once you've seen it it doesn't go away eh?

Will update this thread.

Wow.. u got it replaced without anymore prob...that's real good. How does ur screen look like now on low brightness on a white background? Can u show us a pic of it?

Seems like it might be there a little bit but I can't see it all the time like I could with the last phone. I guess I should have done some side by side while I had both phones. Could be something they all have to varying degrees? Anyway I'm much happier with the phone that I have now.

Yea it looks way better than ur first. But why is the brightness brighter too? Is this at the same level with ur first pic?

That's an app called display tester, you should check it out. It allows you to do full-screen testing of a completely solid color including hiding the softkeys.

Actually, I feel the app "screen test" is better because it shows the screen according to ur system brightness. The app u recommended seems to crank up the brightness.

Well, at low brightness my screen seems to look like ur old one though... But higher levels seems ok. I really don't feel like risking it for a exchange...I did these kind of things before and it usually ends up having worst prob like dust...dead pixels...etc

So it sounds like all of the galaxy Nexis's are going to have a little bit of this problem to varying degrees. My new one has a little bit of it but much less than the original one did. My replacement was a brand-new unit it wasn't any kind of a referb or anything.

I think inferior screen, slower cpu and a lack of a memory card slot are some of the things that Samsung is doing to make this phone compare unfavorably with the rest of their product line. This is a developers phone and the focus is on the software, which is excellent in itself.

Yeah.. but I still chose nexus in the end despite it having slower processor etc.. I just love pure experience.

Well, we should just enjoy the phone instead of worrying too much about the screen heheheh
