Has anyone else had screen flicker? Had a 16GB from Carphone Warehouse delivered today and the screen flicker has got worse throughout the day. Tried the fix by making sure auto is off...which it was. Having to return it now but going to have to wait as they are sold out. Frustrated again as I never have luck with Nexus products...my Nexus 7 tablet has been faulty twice.

Does the flicker typically happen on white screens, especially while data is being used? If so, this sounds a lot like the screen flicker that was present on many Nexus 7 tablets. It should be covered under warranty.

It is happening on the home screen mainly which is what green and stuff? It just pulses in the background...weird no one else seems to have a problem. Not noticed it on white screens though. It even seemed evident on Netflix which seemed grainy and poor quality.

Very few people have one so I wouldn't think it's too weird yet. If it's a defect they'll likely be more but hopefully it's only on a very small % of them. That really sucks for you though.

I have the same issue on my 32GB Nexus 5 too, right out the box. Driving me crazy. It is very noticeable.

I think I've noticed the same thing?

Is it the screen going brighter then darker basically? I assumed this was because it was on Auto so I've turned it off. Also noticed that my screen is down to 41% of my battery loss and was wondering if this was the issue?

I am experiencing the same thing. I saw the flickering and googled it. I see it when I use a wallpaper the has a lot of blue. :/ It's really disappointing. My first Android phone. Coming from an iPhone 4S.

Mine is all black so I don't think colour has anything to do with it.

Exactly the same problem on my 32GB Nexus 5.

Arrived on Monday 4th and noticed it straight away. Not noticeable on videos or white colours, mainly on yellow orange and blue static screens just like the new homepage wallpaper.
It isn't flickering between dark and light, but it's flickering as if there is some background static, or an old analogue TV very slight tuned out. I managed to capture a video of it on an old HTC Sensation - not great, but good enough to use as proof. However today I arranged a replacement with Google support which only took 20mins.

Now I guess I just have to wait a few weeks for stock to replenish.

Received my Nexus 5 and after a full charge, got fairly significant horizontal lines flickering. This only occured on certain colours, but it was intolerable.
I notified Google who suggested I do a Reset which (as I suspected) did absolutely nothing. I've now to got drive an hour and a half to my 'local' UPS centre to drop off the old one, I've had ANOTHER $470 'held' out of my account (which apparently I've no need to get annoyed about cause they're only 'holding' it, it's not like I've been charged... WELL IT'S NOT IN MY ACCOUNT ANYMORE!!!) and Google haven't responded to any of the follow emails I've sent them.
I love Google as a company, but I'm SERIOUSLY unimpressed with this entire saga.

I am facing the same problem. Only the home screen is flickering.. It is solved after a restart, but again starts sometime after. Doesnot seem to be a hardware problem. Problem still persists after resetting to factory settings

Hi own a 16gb nexus 5 bought it this Jan and recently facing the flickering problem. It happens mostly when ever I am playing a game be it clash of clans or any high end game... Google should find a reason for this and provide an updated fix asap or ppl would move on from nexus Google phns.... :(

Google Nexus – The Fix

Fortunately, the fix is easy. Go to your Android Settings -> Display -> Brightness and turn off the option that says Automatic Brightness. I have moved the brightness slider level to around 40% and the flickering issue hasn’t surfaced since then.

Maybe the issue is due to the ambient light sensor on the Nexus device. If this fix doesn’t work for your device, the other suggestion includes turning off Wi-Fi power management. This is available under your Settings -> Wi-Fi -> Advanced -> Wi-Fi optimization.
