screen ghosting/burn in

Mine has some good burn in. I use my GN as a clock/a;arm, so it displays the clock all night, now it's burned in. It's very noticeable against a white background and not noticeable with other screens, but I'm a little pissed. I started not using it as a clock (the alarm works anyway). Hopefully it'll disappear in time.

don't leave your screen on all night.

Its an AMOLED product, it will always have burn in. Think of it as plasma.

Yep, with my previous phone I let the screen stay on while connected to power, this screen/phone I've used tasker to schedule it to turn off after 10 minutes so I won't have this sort of issue.

Of course having your brightness very high will probably have the immediate effects but either way over time if we are not careful we will all have these issues...

This has definitely made me wary of buying the Nexus. I would be buying the international version and the warranty isn't covered in the US as far as I understand. The place I would be buying it from (Negri electronics) says that they cover the warranty but I'm not quite sure I want to deal with screen burn in, especially with the soft keys.

I had this problem on my Nexus One, I used it for GPS a lot in the car, laid in landscape. The status bar on top burned into the screen permanently. I think this is why Google chose to make the status bar all black instead of white starting with Gingerbread because a lot of people had this problem. It was my first Android phone but it makes sense. On my GSM Galaxy Nexus I haven't had any burn in issues yet, but I don't have it on a lot like the Nexus One. I do see banding though on dark colors like the settings screen.

I imported mine from the UK from handtec, I live in the US. I haven't had any issues with my Galaxy Nexus, very satisfied. I was also concerned for the on screen buttons but I also have a Xoom and haven't had any issues with it and I've had it since it was released. I've had my Galaxy Nexus for a little over a month, no issues besides some color banding on darker screens.

Oh and when playing videos the on screen buttons usually disappear completely not just go dark like on Honeycomb. In Youtube at least I've seen them disappear and the video is played full screen over where the buttons are drawn.

I used my old phone as a night clock, but held out on this one for this reason alone. i kinda miss not knowing what time it is until i turn my phone on, so i have been looking for a night clock with a moving clock (like floating around the screen)

I use Gentle Alarm; it has an option to move the clock around.

TV'S Do this all the time depending if its plasma or not. This is why you don't leave a still image just sitting on the Sctrr. Anyways its a simple fix. Run a movie on the phone to get rid of it or leave a complete black background on the phone for about 1 hour at the highest brightness. The movie works better.

I was worried about this same thing. This burn in issue goes way back with Samsung and anything to do with Galaxy brand. just look it up and you can find this issue on the net. I had this same issue with me Samsung fascinate but it was covered by warranty.

If its "ghosting" than that will work but if it actually burn in it wont work.

Try ALARM CLOCK PLUS(noAds) by CVP. Everything is customizable, from shortcuts & fonts/colors, to the screensaver(it moves to eliminate burn in) & everything in between. Also a reliable alarm with many options. Auto dock mode, music playback/photo slideshow, etc...... The devs been around since waaaaaay back & its 1 of the 1st apps i install.

+1 for Alarm Clock Plus. I use the free version. Ran it every night for 6 months on my Infuse with no burn in.

3 Gnexus in my family, no screen ghosting or burning. only thing is all 3 phones have a different shade of white screens which from owning multiple phones, not all the screens are the same. We all eventually adjust to the look/colors of our own screen. all 3 of us love the phone!

since the phone was really only a day old, i went ahead and had verizon replace it...a new one is on the way and i should see it tomorrow

i'd rather have banding and artifacts than image retention and ghosting...i was on a phone call last night, and my phone keypad burned in for almost 30 minutes

I Hope I get lucky and get a perfect one from Amazon. Only $99. I can't wait for the damn thing.

Hate to bring up an old topic--but if you notice that sweet, static, bright blue status bar of ours, well a lot of users are experiencing image retention. Essentially, there's a very light, faint blue that you can see on the upper top of the screen when you go full screen (like in browser) on white/lighter colored backgrounds. At first I thought it was just normal blue tint, but it's very noticeable and goes away when the status bar is there. Apparently it's just the side effect of that ALWAYS being on, and, well OLED type screens.

I've been using a notification/status bar toggle, but until then, any thoughts?
