Screen goes on and off during calls

Hi,
I have been having some weird issues with my GS7 Edge. My current problem is that my phone screen continuously goes on and off during a call. This is with my phone laying front side up and nothing covering the light sensor on the front. This happens whether its plugged in or not. Starting to get very annoyed by it because I am usually on conference calls and i need to mute and unmute frequently. Any ideas?

This issue has been discussed in several other threads. Some feel it's a bug, some feel it's designed behavior.

Regardless, a workaround to make the screen turn off is to press the home button. The screen will follow its normal timeout setting and will stay off.
