Screen Illumination Every Minute

Every minute on the dot my screen turns on for a second to illuminate the lock screen then turns off. It's so annoying because my phone is charging right next to me and is distracting me like none other. Also I want to turn it off because it's wasting battery life.

my wifes has been doing this. i had her uninstall some stuff and i havent checked since then

Sounds like you have a program running in the background. Are you using a Task Manager? If so you might try killing each app off until it stops if you go through all the apps and its still doing it then you may have something else going on... Try uninstalling some apps see if you cant figure out what's causing it...

Does it say anything when the screen is coming on? or is it just coming on then right back off?

I guess worst case is you have to do a hard reset of your phone.

Go into--> settings--> Applications--> Development--> put a check in the stay awake box. it will cause the screen to stay on, but don't worry, you can still turn it off manually. the only time it will come back on for me is when the battery is fully charged and the message shows on the screen. after that I hit the power button, the screen will go out again and stay out.
I hope this works for you. It used to drive me crazy too.

I would hate to have to manage my phone like that. What happens if you were to slip it in your pocket and graze the power button. Wouldn't it just stay on indefinitely?

To the OP: you may want to let your phone run for a couple hours and then go to settings-> about phone -> battery. See if there is anything unusual or something with an abnormally high percentage of battery usage. My guess, as someone stated earlier, is that you have an app that isn't sleeping properly. If you haven't already pull your battery out and restart it. Good luck.

Actually no. it will only stay on when it is charging. not when disconnected from the charger.

Oh ok, gotcha. That's not so bad, but the OP seems like he would still have a problem b/c his display is turning on even when it is off of the charger.
