Screen keeps flashing, help please

After finishing using the phone, you press the power button to quickly turn the screen off. After that time, about every minute the screen turns on for about 5 seconds and then turns off again. This keeps repeating until you use the phone once more.

Is anyone else seeing this issue? Any ideas on how to get it to stop?

When the screen does blink back on for the 5 second window, there are no new status messages or announcements that would be causing it.

Forgive me for being basic but have you tried pulling out the battery for a couple minutes and seeing if that helps after a reboot.

I have a similar issue... like I lock the screen... and a few minutes later the screen comes back on for like 5 seconds then turns off again...

Under developer options there is a option to make the screen flash with heavy app usage?

No dice ... battery pull does not solve it and no such option is marked under developer options. Anyone else have any other ideas?

Maybe a long shot, but I had this exact problem a while back on my old phone and it turned out that a couple of Go themes I had installed had the ability to wake my phone up for some stupid reason and were being shady. Needless to say, they got uninstalled immediately and the problem went away. Might look into the permissions on some apps if all else fails.

I think he was referring to 'Strict mode' in Developer Options - I don't think that's supposed to flash the screen once you've turned the screen off, but there could be something broken with that feature.

I will try out both of these options when I get home tonight. Not sure about an app causing the issue because this is my wife's phone and other then a few items it is 100%stock.

I will update post once I know more.

I'd report it to Verizon and Samsung as well as this isn't a widespread issue, at least not that I've seen.

Did you look at the other User interface settings in the Developer options screen (in the screenshot above) to see if any of them are enabled?
Have you dropped your device recently, or did it get wet?

Ok. I had this issue with my android. the screen used to flash for the entire day and nothing that I tried work. the following list were the procedure that i tried but all of them fail.
[

1. reset
2. restart
3. full battery
4. replace battery
   ..
   NONE OF THIS PROCEDURE WORKED. ONLY THE FOLLOWING. use the phone until the phone die completely. then, connect the charger and let it charge until it back to full. turn it on and this should work. if not, then take it to the closest repair services and have them fix it for you. hopefully, this will solve your issue. thanks

I also have the same problem with my Samsung galaxy S3 , it started few days back the screen keep turning on about 2 second or so again and again, I have try to restart the phone as well as take the battery off and back on but it doesn't stop . Please help its frustrated.

Check for the recently downloaded apps. I had to remove so many random apps to figure out which had caused the problem.
In my case, it was NOOM WALK. I had it turn off or not showing the number on my status bar, yet my screen still keeps flashing every single minute.
Once I had it removed completely, the problem is gone.

This was happening to my galaxy note 2 and I sent it away for repair with no fix. As soon as I deleted NOOM walk the problem went away, clearly there is an in app issue.
