SCREEN light continues to light up after receiving sms

Hi. I am using s6 edge plus. I noticed that whenever my phone is on charge and if i receive a sms then, the scrèen lighr illuminates and never turns off even after many hours until i.manually turn it off. Is this normal? I had same problem with my s3 amd everything became downhill from there
I am worried.. it should iĺluminate but not continous until we manually do something. Why is this happening? Hardware defect?

Welcome to Android Central! Go to Settings>Developer Options​ and make sure Keep Awake is turned off.

There is no developer setting at s6 edge plus

It probably hasn't been activated, then. On any Android device, you can make Developer Settings visible by going to Settings>About Phone and tapping Build Number 7 times.
