Screen light up with text?

is there an app or a way to make the screen light up when an email or text come in? without an led, its hit and miss. the iphone would at least light up and show the text. thanks!

Yea, coming form a WinMo phonw I have been used to an indicator light. My wife loves to text me almost everyday come 4PM everyday so some sort of notification would be nice so I don't foget to bring home the milk

I get the notification sound and vibrate, so this hasn't been a problem for me.

Some people suggest that the one of the dots near the "at&t" logo may be an LED to be used when Froyo comes out, but I don't know about that. It may just be a light sensor for the auto-brightness feature.

Coming from a bold 9000 I'm missing the indicator lights - wonder if a custom rom could allow the soft buttons along the bottom edge to slowly blink to indicate a waiting notification?

I agree. We need some kind of indicator light. If those aren't LEDs up top (which I don't think they are) a soft button blinker could work.

i didnt have an led on my 3GS, but if i got a text the screen would light up and it would show the text. i like the idea of the soft buttons blinking slowly to signify this. of course i want them to stay lighted up a little longer on normal use first though.

i use sms popup and the screen turns on when i get a text. i dunno if theres a similar thing for emails though.
