I noticed that my phone screen turns on when it receives a text message does anyone know how to turn that off. Its annoying when I'm at work I dont want the screen coming on and showing I get a text every couple minutes.

Depends on the app you're using. On the stock app, there is no option to suppress that. On some 3rd party apps, however you can choose whether the message received wakes the screen or not.

How do I choose the screen to not to wake up the screen???

Are you referring to the edge screen lighting up when you get a text message; or the white text pop-up that occurs; or your AOD screen lighting up?

In any case, your text message settings may be able to have a couple options you could tweak.

If you long press the message app icon tap info scroll to notifications and tap it then go general tap you can disable status bar ,lock screen, to silent from alert

The whole screen comes up like after going away from the always on display

Again, if you're using the stock app, there is no option to disable that. Only if the app supports that, will it show in the APP'S notification settings.
