Android Central Question

I just got a OnePlus 7t on Android 10 and the Lock Screen is not working. If my phone is asleep and I push the power button to activate it, it just bypasses any security requirement and comes on. Fingerprint and Pattern are both set up.

I have enabled "Immediately lock after sleep" as well as "Power button instantly locks".

I made sure the Smart Lock features are not enabled. "On body detection" is set to OFF. "Trusted places" only has my home address but it is grayed out. Tapping it shows a "Turn on this location" message so presumably it IS off. "Trusted Devices" has no devices associated and I never set anything up.

I also tried disabling Smart Lock as a "Trusted Agent".

Any ideas?

Let me see if @Javier P can help, I don't have my 1+7P until later today to see any settings

Face Unlock is not set up.

I also tried going outside my house on the chance that the "Trusted Places" was forced on using my home address but even outside the house (~ half mile away) the lock screen was still getting bypassed when pushing the Power button.

Welcome to the forums. The usual cause for that issue is Smart Lock being enabled, which is not your case. Do you have any app enabled as Device Admin in your Security settings?

If nothing works I'd recommend you to change your pattern (you can even set the same one again), restart the phone and see what happens.

Also, you can try wiping cache in the Recovery menu.

I checked the Device Admin and there were 3 apps listed but none of them were enabled. I also tried changing the pattern, using a PIN instead of a pattern to no avail.

How do I wipe the cache in the Recovery menu?

If all else fails am I resigned to a factory reboot?

Which specific 7T model do you have? Which Android version are you running? Could you post a screenshot of your 'About phone' screen?

OK...I figured it out. Or, more like I lucked into fixing it. I disabled ALL security (no PIN, no pattern, etc). This also disabled fingerprint too. I then set up security using Pattern and guess what...now it works. I then added fingerprints and it still works. Whaddya know. Funny thing is that I didn't even disable the security with the intent of trying to fix this issue; I just wanted to do a system backup and it just happened to work. Now I feel like I should have tried this earlier. Oh well.

Thanks for working through this with me.

Excellent. Glad you managed to fix it and thanks for the follow up, it'll be very helpful for other users with a similar problem.

That's the T-Mobile branded model, right?
