Screen Mirroring or Casting?

I purchased an inexpensive Google Chromecast device for each of our TV's. It's easy to cast from my Pixel 2 XL in High Definition to any of our HD TV's.

Inexpensive = $35 each.

For a product that I never needed until I got a Pixel phone.

This may or may not be relevant - recently I was having trouble casting to my smart TV, when I had no problem doing so as recently as a week ago.

My router has both 2.4 & 5 GHz wifi broadcasts, I finally figured out that my phone had switched which one it was connecting to, & the TV I wanted to cast to was on the other one. Once I switched the wifi broadcast on my phone back to the one the TV was using, I can cast again with no issues.

Same. I figured out my problem. I had a wired LAN plugged in and wifi connected on my TV. I unplugged the LAN so it was forced to use wifi and FINALLY the device showed up on my phone!

Last time I had the same issue, the tv just "magically" showed up after a frustrating few hours of googling wtf was happening. Maybe the tv swapped how it was connecting and I got lucky? This time, the wire removal was the key. Hopefully this was the underlying issue all along and I won't have this problem again.

I use allcast to cast any media or screen finder to mirror, works fine on my LG TV.

Hey! I was recently having the same problem. I have a Pixel 2 XL and a Samsung 6 Series 50". I was able to cast to my t.v. before, but it suddenly stopped one day. It would give me the option on my phone, but would eventually time out and say "A problem occurred trying to connect to Samsung 6 Series 50" or something like that. I held the power button on my remote until my tv reset. It took about 10 seconds. Once my t.v. rebooted, I was able to connect again immediately.

I had so much trouble trying to connect my pixel 2 to my Samsung tv.
Finally found Samsung smartview app in the Play store.Now I can view photos,videos and music on my tv.

Jumping in on this thread. I now have a Google Pixel 2 XL. I had previously cast my Droid Maxx and my Droid Turbo 2 to my Vizio E Series after having bought this thing called a ScreenBeam by Actiontec, which works on the Miracast Technology.

I can still cast my computer, but I can't cast my phone. I do not want to buy a ChromeCast, based on having bought something already. Also, I don't cast that often, and I can use my PC as well.

But here's my question - how do I cast to my PC? I tried following the instructions on this video, and used Cast from my phone, but it doesn't see my computer?
