I have a galaxy note 4, & a Samsung Smart TV. the TV is an older version, either 2012 or 2013.

I want to screen mirror from my phone. I had done this once before with my note 3, but I had never done it with my note 4 .

Basically, I want to bring up a YouTube video on my phone, and screen share that to the TV.

I have verified multiple times that both my smartphone and my smart TV are connected to the same Wireless internet connection in my house.

My smart TV can see my phone. when I look under menu, network, AllShare settings, I see my device.

When I go to my phone, and try to turn on screen share from the pull-down menu, the phone scans for available devices and then tells me it cannot see any available devices.

I would think it was just me doing something wrong, however, the TV can see the phone its just that the phone cannot see the TV.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Thank you for your help!

Have you tried pairing your phone with your TV in YouTube settings on the Note. It works with most smart TVs that have YT app installed, not just Samsung ones.

How hard can it be? No idea, I have a chromecast, and I'm streaming to it now. In the 24 hours since you posted, you probably earned $35 and drove past a best buy.

Funny! :-) I live in the Arkansas Ozarks, there is no Best Buy within a hundred miles... as for earning $35, that too is somewhat questionable! What I've earned versus what I've spent this week is likely upside down. .. Still, Chromecast is sounding better all the time.

I tried this last night and it worked. On the TV you have to change the source to Mirror, then enable mirroring on the phone and if wifi isn't on it should automatically turn it on and connect. Once it did this then my TV popped up on the phone, selected it and it started to mirror just fine. When trying it I first turned mirroring on the phone then changed the source on the TV, when doing it in this order my phone did not see the TV. So first change the TV source then enable mirroring on the phone. I have a Note 4 and a 2013 Samsung 4K F9000 TV.

Another alternative: check if your tv has an Ethernet socket? If it does then it probably has dlna and if connected to your home network it will appear in the 'quick connect' list and you can stream local content from your phone (or computer or tablet) - music, photos, videos etc.

It'll work both ways too. You can use the TV remote to browse and play files from any media server or nas on the network. You can even run a server on the phone and browse it from the TV of you want.

This tech has been around a while too so you don't need the latest TV to have it as a feature.
