Screen not waking up when new text arrive

Just noticed my screen no longer wakes up when I get a new text message. It wakes up fine with incoming calls. I still get a notification sound and the blue indicator light works. I've tried going into the messages settings and I'm not seeing anything. I've tried both turning the "message preview in the notification bar" on and off but this doesn't help. Its not a big deal as the sound & light are still working but for the life of me can't figure this one out. Any thoughts?

Its a new "feature" of 4.3

Interesting. I could have sworn it was working after I did the 4.3 update. But then again, I don't usually grab my phone the second the text notification goes off so I guess it could have been not working since the update and I just haven't noticed.

To bad I'm not ready to put 4.3 on my phone yet because I can't stand the fact that a new message wakes the phone up.
