My son has an HTC Vivid. About 2 months ago I replaced the LCD, digitizer and motherboard and all has been great. A couple of days ago the battery died. He plugged into the charger and the screen now flickers and is so dim you can barely see it.

Any suggestions?

Screen separation, possibly?

Like screen separating from the digitizer? I don't know I can take it apart again and see. I hate to keep doing that I lost count how many times I've taken that dumb thing apart. LOL

It could be a faulty ribbon somewhere. I'm not the most proficient in hardware.

Thanks. I'll see if I can find anything obvious. Hopefully someone else will chime in here as well

Hmm...I think I know who to call.

Thank you Golfdriver97. So a dead battery can damage a ribbon? If that is the case, maybe I shouldn't repair it because I'm sure that's not going to me the last time the battery dies LOL

I was under the impression that you dismantled your phone.

That was a few months ago. I replaced the screen, digitizer and motherboard. All has worked perfectly until the battery drained. The whole phone still works perfectly except for the screen brightness. I've checked and the bright is turned all the way up.

That's why I am thinking it might be a stuck in some kind of reserve energy mode? I don't know if HTC has a mode like that.

Maybe. Not sure myself.

There's a setting called Power Save(r), but I highly doubt that could be it. How about a simple "clear /cache and reboot"? Worth a shot.

what is the best way to reboot or even hard rest the phone? Maybe if I could reset to factory settings, if its a software issue that might fix it. I just don't know how to do that with an HTC.

Thanks!

If you want to factory reset the phone, it should either be located under Storage (Which my Vivid shows), or, if memory of the stock ROM are correct, should be under Privacy or Security.

Thanks, I'll give that a try when my son gets home - it's actually his phone.

Edited again because my son is a goof ball. First it wasn't any better, then it was fixed and now he says no it wasn't better at all.

What powers the light if anyone knows?

Your battery, but you can see if it was a faulty screen. The screens on Androids are sensitive, wrong placement by like, a 1/4 of an inch, and you are looking at non responsive buttons.
