Screen protector. Yes or No?

Coming from an IP5, I always used a Zagg screen protector. When I got my One, I so liked the screen feel I did not put a protector on it. I do have the Poetic Atmosphere case on it and love that! Anyway, I went biking a few weekend's ago and my wife's screen got a bit scratched and mine was right next to hers, so I ordered the GLAS.t SLIM protector. I was a bit leery after reading some reviews, but went ahead and put it on last night and really like it. I washed my hands and ensured the screen was pristine. I did not have to take the case off, it went on super easy 1st time. I just lined up the bottom and pressed down the middle. I had 1 bigger air bubble, but pressed it out. Today I have 1 very small one, but I think it will go away. The touch is like the One screen, no issues at all with back or home press. I did have the AT&T software update< i heard if you did not it may be decreased sensitivity.

Anyway, I'm extremely happy with the protector, its invisible and feels just like the original screen.

Glad to see this post. I just ordered a GLAS.tr last week and expecting it to arrive today. Had the glas on a few previous devices and loved it but was worried after reading some of the feedback regarding the glas and the One buttons. I have the update as well and the home and back buttons seem to be a bit more responsive so hopefully my experience with the glas screen protector will be as positive as yours.

how is the touch sensitivity through ghost armor? I have that on my non touch smart phone and it has been brilliant for 2 years straight (which if you knew me would astound you) but i have no idea how it would translate to a smartphone

No issues at all in my opinion. I can swipe, drag, press & hold, etc with no problems.

I would venture to say as long as you installed the upgrade, you should be very happy! It seems to have that same "sloppiness" as the unprotected screen has. Good Luck!!!

I'd personally say no. My phones go naked.. ;)

If you want to sell it later on, yes. If you hate seeing scratches on your screen, yes. If you don't care, then that's your choice lol. I personally think a screen protector is essential. I like to keep my phones in "like new" condition.

My EVO lte has gone a year with no protector and looks great. I work construction.

My daughter's s3 is 6 months old and is scratched to hell. I'm much harder on phones too.

Was under the assumption the glass was the same? My HTC One will get no protector.

Heard a lot of bad things about zagg especially an orange effect that happens to it. I used power support USA and Boxwave for my devices and liked both. Anything similar?

I can't say if this phone needs one or not, but I'm planning on using one. I had one on my Thunderbolt for ~2 years. The bolt never had a case and it showed, but the screen was perfect. A couple of days ago the corner of the screen protector started to lift so I peeled it off. Now I have a scratch down the center of the screen. Two years with a screen protector and the screen was perfect. Three days without it and it's scratched. Granted I didn't baby the phone, so as they say YMMV.

Was wondering what your experiences are using screen protectors. Are they necessary? And if so what brand is best to not take away from the gorgeous display

I have a ZAGG Invisishield. I have three decent sized scratches on it. One happened when I dropped it, the others I am not sure. I think they are worth it.

I personally never use one, but my wife just got the HTC one and managed to get a scratch on her screen within a week. Not sure how, but she did. I say that if you are very cautious and aware that the screen is not indestructible then go bare. If you work in a place where mishaps can occur then get a "good" screen protector. My suggestion is a Spigen protector. Something You Want | Home | SPIGEN SGP They make their protectors from the same tech as Gorilla glass. Very thin and almost unnoticeable.

Anyone know the difference between the glas.t and normal ultra thin spigen screen protectors

I really like the Steinheil crystal clear screen protector but so far I haven't used one for my One. Screen still looks amazing. I would feel better if there was something on there protecting it.

I prefer my phone without one and my tablet with one. I use more one handed swiping gestures mostly with a thumb on the phone and need it to be as fluid as possible and the biggest risk to the screen is a drop; whereas on the tablet it's a two handed operation with more real estate, so I'm more concerned with protecting the screen on that one.

Up to you and whatever you like. I don't use one because I know the only thing that is capable of scratching the glass are things like sand and rocks. Not much else you run into in your daily life will have a hardness greater than gorilla glass so you are unlikely to scratch it. I don't even bother with avoiding keys and change in my pocket (other than I almost never have change) because those things are softer than the phone, both screen and body. Watch the scratch test with keys someone posted here. The scratches wipe right off. That's because the phone isn't actually being scratched, the keys are. Anyhow, if you want a screen protector go for it. I personally hate looking through them when I know what my bare screen looks like and I know as long as I don't rub certain materials over the screen I'll be fine.

Edit:I feel what the poster above me said is important about how the greatest threat to a phone screen is a fall. Generally the only time I would fear damage would be a fall, in which case a screen protector is unlikely to help much. Even if it does keep the screen from cracking a fall that would have caused such damage is likely to cause other internal damage as well. This is when I'll make an insurance claim.

I switch from zagg to just like glass and love them. don't even realize a protector is on there and it is strong.
I have a video on them as well on youtube.

I managed to get a scratch on my iphone during the only week in it's lifespan that it didn't have a screen protector, so I'm not likely to take a chance with my One until it's at least a year or two old (in canada, our contracts are 3 years so it has to last a little longer than other places). That being said, I just stock up on cheap protectors from dealextreme.com and change them every couple months.

No, we're talking about a cell phone, not a Ferrrari. I've tried using them in the past and dealing with the poorer user experience, bubbles and so on is not worth dealing with.
