never had one before and never had issues with the screen on my previous phone the HTC incredible 2.

from what i read these phones have "gorilla glass" which i assume is extremely durable.

never been a fan of the screen protectors because no matter how perfect you apply them, you always get even a tiny bubble.

are they necessary for these phones or does the "gorilla glass" do an excellent job in protection?

thanks

Yeah, you can skip the screen protector.

Gorilla Glass will scratch so if that is something you wish to avoid put a protector on. I keep my pockets empty for my phone and it scratched. The bubbles you speak of are due to dust getting stuck in between. I used to have that issue but I know two ways to avoid it.

Install in a steamy bathroom. This keeps the dust from falling much.

Or

I line up my screen protector and tape it on the left side. I clean my screen with liquid and a cleaning clothe And when done I pull the initial screen shield off the adhering side and quickly place it. No time for dust and its lined up. Remove tape from the top, push bubbles out with the clothe and finger, and remove tip protective layer. I can do a 100% bubble free install every time by doing this.

I always invest in a ZAGG...probably overkill but it provides me with piece of mind. I also always buy an Otterbox...don't know why bc I never get to enjoy the great styling of the phone but I just can't bring myself to let a $600 device naked.

I used mine for about a month without a screen protector and somehow got a light scratch on it. I've had a Zagg on it since then.

I have found that screen protectors cut down on the fingerprints on the glass. I would go with ZAGG. I used to use PhantomSkinz with my old EVO 3D, but when I purchased their screen protectors for the Razr Maxx HD, I saw they were too opaque for my taste and way more opaque than the protectors for the EVO 3D.
