Screen Protector?

i got the realook one from amazon and it feels exactly how it did without a protector, imo. i don't notice any distortion at all. the hardest part was making sure there was no dust on the screen and air.
the realook one was washable and reusable. i took it off to wash off the dust that got trapped under, causing bubbles. it is now perfectly on, no bubbles. it is a little difficult putting it on because it is such an exact cut that any slight angle will make it look off.
i ordered it yesterday and got it today. i was extremely shocked by the promptness.

Is the realook static cling or adhesive based? If its washable you would assume static cling, right? Just confusing how their site says it uses a high quality adhesive..but reviews I saw said they were static cling.

Hopefully I get mine today (status shows it at my local post office) - they ship from CA so that's why you got it next day...mine has to make it to Chicago.

i'm not100% sure but i'd say static cling since it was removable (left no residue) and washable without any issues. they probably just wanted to ensure their buyers that the screen securely stays on, which it does.
when i experienced dust getting trapped between the protector and screen during the application process, i was considering using the second one but i just cleaned that one and it worked out. i didn't wait for it to completely dry tho so there was water droplets still on it but that helped me push some of the dust from under the screen.

Just applied mine. Badass screen protector, great packaging.....even including that random piece of tape if you need to lift the screen protector off. Very good instructions as well. Only ended up with a couple tolerable specs of dust...but I know if I try to remove them and lay it down again, I'll probably just end up with more dust. Maybe if I had followed step two and created a dust free environment by spraying water all over the air in my house I wouldn't have had this problem. hahaha

EDIT: The edges of the screen protector don't seem to want to go down. Maybe they'll settle down over time?

i should have been as smart as you lol.. i saw one dust speck and lifted it to take it out and more flew in anyways =( .. i didn't spray the water all over either =\ but i'm glad you like it! i left them a great review lol

I bought a T-Mo screen protector and when I applied it, I was getting air bubbles all over. I wiped the glass super clean before applying, but somehow that didn't work. Was I doing something wrong, or is it because the screen protector was bad?

P.S. What do you folks think of the Skinomi full body protector? It seems to be rather thin and not make the phone bulky. Anyone using it?

Thanks.

I did not get any bubbles. Lay it from one and and work out the bubbles as you lay it down. After laid down, work them out gently with a credit card. If you still have bubbles, give it a few days, maybe a couple minutes in the sun.

TMO screen protectors suck - I ripped that thing off so fast...the hairline scratch I got was worth the two extra days of looking at a beautiful screen. Order a realook protector from amazon...they are the best out right now.

Amazon.com: REALOOK T-Mobile MyTouch 4G Crystal Clear Premium LCD Screen Protector 2 Pack: Cell Phones & Accessories: Reviews, Prices & more
First time I've tried them - outstanding quality, good packaging, great instructions...I'm not sure I'll ever buy screen protectors from another company especially since realook seems to be the first quality company to have screen protectors out for a device right after release.

RANT SUMMARY: DO NOT buy screen protectors from T-Mobile.

You guys running your MTs naked or are you using a screen protector? A case is out of the question for me... but I like a decent screen protector to keep fingerprints to a minimun and make cleaning the screen easier. The glass actually seems pretty good at not holding prints so far though and I assume is relatively durable (I baby my phones so not too concerned about scratching it).

I'm very unhappy because I left the stock film over the screen while my new phone charged, went out of my way to go to a TMO store before my night out...purchase a screen protector (2 pack for $15...) assuming they are good quality -- come home and apply.....and wow - absolute WORST protector I have ever seen. Doesn't cover the whole face of the phone (just the "screen part") and has absolutely TERRIBLE clarity. What a POS product. VERY disappointed TMO would offer such crap. Took it off immediately. I will be taking the second protector back to TMO tomorrow and am not leaving until I receive a full refund. I'm also going to keep the lint free cloth that came with it for the inconvenience.

Guess I'll have to wait for Case-Mate or Boxwave to make a screen protector (they both make awesome protectors...case-mate coming out on top for better prices and the fact that my BB Bold has had a single protector on for 12 months, looking flawless still). (I see smartphone experts protectors receiving good reviews on this site -- anyone know how they compare to boxwave or case-mate?)
I agree. I've used ReaLook since the Vibrant, then I went to the iPhone 4 again with ReaLook, and now I have my myTouch HD and I'm waiting for it to come in the mail

The edges of my realook screen protector are still not fully pressed on the phone. I push it down more, and nothing happens. Not a terrible problem, but it might allow dust/debris to get under the edges.

Also, I asked realook whether or not they use an adhesive and they finally got back to me -- the answer is YES, realook protectors do use an adhesive.... So that's unfortunate. iPhone users have been told not to use screen protectors with adhesive because it can damage the glass coating..not sure what type of coating our glass has because HTC is unable to share this information so using a screen protector with adhesive may or may not be risky.. hmmm

yikes!! that's a little sad to hear.. but the adhesive is washable?
i also had the issue of the edges not being fully pressed on but i just work with it with a credit card or my fingers every now and then and now it is absolutely perfect! (it did take a couple days though). I can't even tell that the screen protector is there now =)

Yea that's what threw me off.. I was willing to assume non-adhesive as well. If different light though, I am seeing a decent amount of very fine dust particles under the protector. I've never had this problem with case-mate or boxwave protectors - I am very careful when applying these and cleaning the surface well before...so I'm thinking maybe the adhesive properties of these attracts more dust than average since it sticks to the protector?

Given it's washable and won't leave any residue, I'm guessing it probably wouldn't damage any coatings on our phones. The reviews I've read of other protectors damaging the coating all involved those full body skins that need water to apply.

I know you guys are saying the tmobile screen protectors suck... but I wasn't leaving the tmob store until I had a case and screen protector in hand. I bought a silicone case from tmob and it came with a screen protector. The rep put both of these on for me before even handing me the phone. Very glad he did because I tend to be really harsh on my phones. So far, no bubbles, no dust - it was right out of the box. It looks and feels great. But like someone before me mentioned, i'm now wondering if this will affect the screen coating when I go to take it off eventually?

They just destroyed the beauty of the screen - I couldn't stand it... but looking back, I wish I would've just left it on because the small hairline mark I got would've been prevented.

Anyways - I wouldn't be worried about the adhesive (if the TMO protectors are adhesive...I didn't really pay attention). They didn't need water for application and as I was applying mine, I had to realign it a couple times and it left no residue - so don't worry about it. If there does happen to be any problems after removal, demand TMO do something about it for selling it to protect your phone.

From what I've read on other forums (more specifically, iPhone 4 forums), damage is usually after months...but who really knows. Wasn't a great deal of info but definite reports of damage. Our screen's coating may be different...HTC can't provide details since its considered confidential. I am assuming we DO have a coating because my screen would not have scratched if it didn't. Glass takes much more to scratch than simply pocketing a phone (screen always faced away from potential pocket buttons)...and my fingernail couldn't feel it. I would just leave it on until Boxwave or another high end company makes one. You could also consider realook (on Amazon) until then since the realook protectors at least cover the entire front of your phone.

On another note... I don't know if its my fingers today or what but the realook protector is actually making touchscreen operation more difficult today. Not getting that glass feel I was yesterday...

FYI - Clarivue makes screen protectors for the MT now. I had read good reviews on them and gave them a try since they were around $10 w/ shipping after discount (Search for codes). I wanted a true static cling protector since while probably not an issue, I could feel the Realook adhesive. The Clarivue screen protector went on easier/no dust/etc...possible because the back wasn't adhesive and didn't capture dust as easily...or maybe my air was just cleaner..who knows. It seems to cover slightly less edge to edge than the Realook protector, and does not cover the ffc which I found surprising and did not know before arrival. Not that I use the ffc, I just don't want a scratch there regardless. The edges of this protector also do not seem fully seated on the phone like the Realook protector... I never had this problem with protectors on my old BB, so I'm not sure if it's these two brands or if it's the phones screen itself or what.
