Screen protector?

So for the first time ever, I got a tempered glass screen protector for my phone. It installed perfectly but I really feelike it takes something away from the display. Glare is much worse in the sunlight. My main concern is water. I use my phone in many wet areas and I imagine if water gets caught in between the protecter and the phone, as it most probably will, it at the very least will ruin the adhesive and at worst may negatively affect the phone. What is your experience? Are my fears unrealistic?

1.
It may save your screen from cracking.
2. Yes

Maybe its the co. Maybe its the company protecter I'm using but last night water crept in underneath the protecter and as of now I have limited touch function on parts of the screen. If I take of the protecter then everything is fine. The adhesive seems to have come of un most of the bottom of the protecter.

I've never used a screen protector on any smartphone I've owned and I've owned many, starting with the first iphone.

I'd skip it.

I use a tempered glass screen protector on my phones. I've never dropped a phone, but I know others who have and the protector cracked but not the underlying glass. The right protector shouldn't increase glare or noticeably lessen touch sensitivity. I don't use my phone in wet areas so I've never had a problem with water getting under the protector, but that shouldn't happen with a protector like White Dome where the adhesive spreads over the entire display.

I always try to use a tempered glass screen protector (except Galaxy S7 Edge). Saved my phones many times from accidental drops. If installed correctly, no water should get in. I always get the cheap ones from eBay and had no issues with any of them. I'm ocd about getting micro scratches on my phones, but you should be fine without it too as long as it doesn't get dropped.

So I dropped my phone into the sink. My screen protector just slipped off now. It's soaking wet and it seems that the adhesive is pretty much gone

I see you are a newer user here - welcome to Android Central!

It's too bad about the glare of your display. Maybe wiping it down with a cloth may help? My tempered glass screen protectors usually didn't cause the display to be too jarring - or I just got used to it lool.

I wouldn't worry too much about water getting in between the screen protector and the display. The phone is IP 68 rated so a little bit of water here and there won't hurt it. :)

Enjoy your new phone!

I bought & installed this exact screen protector and noticed immediately that The sound coming from the screen sounded awful. There was a crackling, like static from the under screen speaker. As soon as I removed the screen protector there sound issue disappeared.

Interesting! Kind of makes sense though since the screen is actually acting as a transducer. It would probably be like putting a piece of paper on a moving speaker driver. Definitely something to consider when purchasing.

I haven't had any success with screen protectors. The first ones I bought did not conform to the curvature of the screen and wouldn't stick. I then tried the Mr. Shield ones listed above and while they were smaller and didn't extend to the curve, they were close enough to create a lip where it was very easy to catch a corner of it and tear it away from the screen. Basically I've found them useless. I've never dropped a phone (at least not hard enough to break or scratch it) or actually scratched a screen in my life, so I just live without it. Protectors alter the visibility and touch, so not worth it.
