Hello,

Quick question - I finally updated from S20 Ultra to S26 Ultra. One of the features I absolutely loved about the S20 was the external storage slot for SDCards. Made it perfect for long car rides

Now I need some assistance, I understand there is no slot in S26 so trying to figure out how can I play music thru my SDCard. I purchased the Type C adapter, but it doesn't let me shuffule thru Samsung Music which is making me select and choose 1 song at a time. (I don't want to save music internally).

Was hoping if there is some suggestions, thank you all.

Welcome to Android Central forums. While I stream everything and no longer store anything on my phone, maybe we can troubleshoot you through this problem.

First let's talk about your SD files. How are your files stored and sorted on the card? Do you have songs in album folders, artist folders (where all of the songs for an artist are just loose in the same folder), all songs loose in a music folder?

When you say that you are unable to shuffle songs, do you mean that it won't play songs in other folders or do you mean that it plays one song, even if there are other songs in the same location, and stops and waits for input from you?

Have you tried another player?

Are you able to create or have you tried creating a playlist? What is the result?

Unfortunately, I don't know Samsung Music app. I just enabled it for the first time to look at it for this issue. My questions about how the music is stored is because the player may not be able to randomly retrieve files that are buried in folder after folder. Way back in the day, you had to have all of your music in a folder named music, and couldn't have it separate folders within that folder and the music folder had to be on the root of the drive. If you don't know what the root is, it just means the first thing you come to when you open the location without having to open other folders to find whatever. I was just wondering if you might have too many folders. Not sure how attached you are to Samsung Music but perhaps another player would work. There are several on the Play Store to choose from. YouTube Music has the ability to play your music, I'm just not sure if it will play your music screen on or off. If you aren't subscribed the player has to be open and on screen to play, if this isn't something that would bother you it's one more that you could try. While it sounds like you may have a lot of music on this card, but you could try creating a playlist with a few songs to see if they play continuously. If you get that to work maybe it will lead to another insight.

Let us know what you find and we'll offer more advice.
