So I am one of those that do not like to use a case. Most phones now a days are made with screens tough enough they should not scratch from normal daily use - in and out of pocket and setting down. I have gone years using phones like this (OG Evo, Nexus S 4G, iPhone 4S....) and never had any problems or scratches on my screens.

Now with the Nexus 4 and only 4 months of use my screen has a handful of tiny scratches. Not treating this phone different than the others I have used so it's a head scratcher. Kinda a big bummer as I love the Nexus line, but the ease of screen scratching is driving me nuts.

Every screen scratches, fact of life. Some have a coating over the screen and they'll show micro scratches. But hey at least it isn't a finger magnet.

Yeh I would advise against putting the nexus in your pocket with any sharp objects. I had mine in my pocket with some nails and there are now loads of scratches.

Use a screen protector or at least make sure the back is facing the sharp objects.
