Screen turning off while dialing

I have had the following happen a couple times and it is really frustrating. While on a call, say with a credit card company, I will be prompted to enter a my account number. I pull the phone away and look at the screen, which is on. I then touch the dialpad symbol and the numbers come up (like when making a call). I dial a number, the phone screen goes off, then comes on and goes off. It is making it impossible to input numbers. Has anyone experienced this or tell me why the screen is not staying lit.

I downloaded a program from the Marketplace, Screebl. It's AWESOME. I think I found about it on this forum, but it works exactly as promised. There's a free version and paid version, or at least there was.

I immediately bought the paid version for more options. I have it set for a fairly broad angle of viewing, but as soon as I put the phone down it shuts off to save the battery. LOVE it.

Between Screebl and NoLED (notifications), the main things I didn't like about the phone are fixed.

So this doesn't give us any idea what this app actually does.

I believe what MsGadget is saying is Screebl shuts off your phone's display when you put it down, and keeps the display on while you're using it.

Make sure you're not placing your fingers above the screen of your phone when you're entering numbers. Specifically, to the left of the speaker. That is where the proximity sensor is located which turns the screen off when you have the phone to your ear. If you cover that with your finger, darkness will soon follow...:p

It's funny, I was actually playing with that feature just last night. I realized just how sensitive the sensor was and still can't figure out how my gf keeps muting her phone while she is talking to me with her cheek.... Definatley keep anything away from that Sensor as it will black the screen.

I think this is the answer. I tried it was able to replicate the issue. Need to be careful when dialing.

I did this several times until I realized where I was putting my fingers. I try not to cover that sensor now. Was driving me crazy.
