Screen turns on by itself

Me and wife got our v10's about 3 weeks ago. My wife's lately been noticing the screen turning on by itself when locked and sitting on the table. It does it a lot and imagine it's wasting battery. We're on Verizon if that makes any difference.

And it's not from notifications, I texted her phone and did on Facebook. Neither of those did it

I wonder if something is syncing (say an email) or something that wakes up the phone.. I'll let someone with better knowledge chime in..

Mine does so when some notifications arrive. The phone remains locked, however. No biggie. The screen goes off in a few seconds, and it doesn't affect the Doze feature.
