Screen Unlock Problem Figured out, Not Solved

I have been going nuts trying to figure out a thing with my phone. The screen will not unlock sometime!

I made a holder to fit the dash of my Chevrolet pick up and screwed a universal phone holder to the mount. you know the kind that squeezes in to hold any phone. One problem, My phone screen would not unlock! I could pick up the phone and hold it near the dash and it would work perfectly. I tried hanging the mount on the door trim and console and it would not work there either. I can lay it on the seat or some places on the console and it would unlock the screen every time.

I even got a couple "expert electronic types' to help me figure this out.

It is a simple problem and a simple solution. Every place I mounted the phone there was no metal back plane. When you pick it up your hand acts as a conductive back plane so your finger can operate the static sensitive screen. My mount was not physically connected to any metal in the truck. If you lay it on a glass or plastic table the same thing will happen.
