Screen wake on new messages

Is there a way to setup so the screen wakes when a new text or email comes in? I have productivity lockscreen so it displays message previews, but it's annoying having to wake the phone in order to see the preview.

Also is there a way to display battery life % in top menu bar?

Loving the phone and the android system.
