Screen will not sleep in accordance with settings

A few weeks ago I changed the screen setting from sleeping after "1 min", to "never", because I was using an app to read and write and it kept shutting off if I didn't touch the screen after 1 min. I changed it back to 1 min a week ago or so, and it will no longer shut off after 1 minute has elapsed.

I have not downloaded any new apps and have cleared the cache multiple times.

I'll try to clear the catch partition tonight, but just curious if anyone has any insights?

Thank you!

You can try in the Moto app there is a setting that will keep it on if it sees you are still looking at the screen.

Yeah, I should've mentioned that I checked that already. That was actually the first place I looked, but I've had that off since day 1.

Do you have developer options active. I believe there's a setting in there that prevents it from sleeping but only while charging.

That's a strange glitch.

If restarting the phone or clearing the cache partition doesn't work, what happens if you change the setting to something else (say, 30 seconds) temporarily, and then change back to a minute?

Checked this too, it's not turned on. I do have developer settings accessed, but haven't played around with this particular setting.

Toggling between 30 and 60 seconds makes no difference. The screen just stays on regardless. Sometimes it shuts off correctly, but most times, it will dim like it's about to go off (after about 60 sec.), and then instead of turning off, it pops back onto full brightness. At this point it will just stay on full brightness and won't even dim again after 60 seconds go by. Really strange! It's not the end of the world by any means, but the OCD in me hates not being able to control or understand what's going on.
